During October, Linc is pleased to present solo shows by two artists.
Habib Kheradyar : The Ride
Habib Kheradyar showed with Linc in 2002, where he presented works made from
fabrics offering a subtle interplay of light, form and motion to the viewer.
Since that time, the artist has gone further into these concerns - indeed, a
life's work - and the current show illustrates the highpoints of his
accomplishments. Here, the artist also presents a unique video piece
entitled The Ride, which mesmerises with its repetitive, cyclical motion and
methodical breathing. Kheradyar lives in Los Angeles and was among this
years recipients of the coveted COLA award.
Pip Culbert: The Dervish
Pip Culbert has shown in San Francisco several times, most recently
with her Pocket Show in at the S.F. Art Institute's McBean Gallery,
a show curated by Charles Linder. Pip divides her time mainly between
London and Croagnes, a tiny village near Avignon in the South of
France, where she spends a great deal of it taking the world apart at
the seams. In a stunningly simple work method that has changed little
over the past 30 years, Culbert removes all of the material from sewn
items, leaving as her work only the seams which illustrate a formerly
hidden architecture. She recently had a solo show at Gitte Weise
Galerie in Berlin.
In both Kheradyar and Culbert's work there is an investigation of the
flexibility of boundaries. The artists both work primarily with
fabric, light and the interplay of the viewers own perspective within
the objects themselves. In the installation at Linc, there is a
particularly meditative aspect to the relationship between these two
artists works.
Please join us for a reception for the artists:
Thursday September 30th, 6 - 9 pm.
The show runs through October 31st
