LINCART is pleased to present two concurrent solo projects. In the main gallery, paintings by renowned French artist, Valery Grancher, will be on view, and in the front room and window gallery we will be exhibiting the work of local wonder, John Bucklin.
Born in Toulon, France, Valery Grancher is an internet inspired conceptual artist and performer. By interpreting the ubiquitous computer screen as a "still life", his paintings bring a lively, organic quality to an otherwise sterile creative vacuum. Culling imagery from this generation’s techie pop culture backdrop, he offers the ever-changing Google home page as a mirror of his art-historical references. On view will be a new suite of iconic Google logo paintings like you’ve never seen before.
A native San Franciscan, John Bucklin is a multi-media artist who, for this show, has also mined the net for nuggets. He is in fact an obsessive gold-hunter (having built and used a functional sluice) turned-internet Pirate, roaming random sites for fodder for his drawings. In his first solo show at LINCART, Bucklin offers a group of 15 colored pencil memoirs of his glory days of sourcing gems from cyberspace.
Please come celebrate with us on January 10th.
